The Role
My client is looking for a Technical Manager who can lead the team (internal and external) to drive a wide-ranging Digital development and surpass client’s expectations. The successful candidate will be a seasoned digital professional with robust technical skills combined with strong leadership skills and well-developed planning and organizational abilities.
Key Requirements:
  • Must have strong technical knowledge in the following areas – open source technologies, digital streaming, Cloud, APIs, Machine Learning, IoT, Mobile, Social and Big Data
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high performing architecture and technical teams/function  
  • Must be a hands-on technical leader, ideally come from hands on technical background like a developer before moving into a leadership role managing developers and architects
  • Must understand how to integrate technology, support the development of in-house software to help deliver better creativity to clients
  • Drive technical team performance, and imbed ways of working across the organization to improve digital capability across the business
  • Provide expertise and design solutions for consumer facing web applications as well as system integration with internal systems and with external vendors.
  • Provide technical leadership in design, development, and testing of digital solutions for clients.
  • Prepare and present potential technical solutions and advise the business on approach and tradeoffs.
  • Ensures that the solution architecture and design are robust and long lasting, mitigating short-term issues ensuring long term value is not diminished.
  • Lead the internal and external technical teams. Providing line management, coaching, development and support. Embedding a culture of excellence and progression.
  • Communicate solution approaches to project teams, leadership, and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with client teams to shape and deliver the plan for delivery of the digital assets needed
  • Keep up to date on cutting edge technologies like Cloud, APIs, Machine Learning, IoT, Mobile, Social and Big Data
  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks and issues across programs and projects
  • Ensuring adherence to architecture standards and processes.
  • Ensuring that the solution meets the functional and non-functional requirements approved by the business.
  • Leverages existing and participates in the creation and augmentation of new and existing reusable service components and patterns.
  • Defines the structure of systems, their interfaces, and the principles that guide its organization, software design and implementation.
  • Write technical requirements, stories, task break-up at the right level.
  • Defines application development principles and patterns and ensures adherence to them
  • Able to provide coding and technical direction to less experienced staff
  • Provide technical leadership, coach and mentor team members.

Qualifications
  • Degree (Computer Science, Information Systems or relational functional field) and/or equivalent combination of education or work experience
  • Hands-on programming and integration experience (Java, J2EE/Spring, SOAP and/or REST APIs)
  • Significant experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is required
  • Demonstrable experience is a range of the following:
    • Mongo DB
    • AWS
    • NGINX
    • GITHUB
    • Python 3.8
    • js
    • Mux
    • Twillio
    • Flask
 
  • Deep familiarity with DevOps processes and CI/CD tools/processes is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of architecture/design patterns and best practices
  • Strong emphasis on Testing, Quality and Automation
  • Strong ability to decompose a broad level business requirement into technical implementation
  • Ability to mentor and guide development team members
  • Strong organization skills with good interpersonal skills and a customer service-oriented attitude
  • Strong experience building consumer facing solutions and building applications on the public cloud
  • Deep knowledge of scalability, security, and maintainability of high-volume Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate and drive highly complex technology solutions to broad audiences within and outside the organization
  • Ability to define solutions from very high-level business ideas
