What are your main responsibilities at Deltra Group?
I manage the hiring process and induction process for all the great people we bring into the business. I also support employee engagement activities and ensure our team members receive the training and development activity they need to be great in their role and progress their career within the business.
What drew you to recruitment?
The people, the pace, the opportunity to earn the money I needed to buy my own place and still have a disposable income to go on holiday and have fun! I moved into my first mortgaged property within 18mths of moving into recruitment - that was a big motivator!
What do you like about working at Deltra Group?
The people here are fun, hardworking, care about treating people well and work well as a team. The size of the business means everyone knows each other and we all help the business to be better and grow. I like having my gym membership covered and the flexibility to work from home when I need to. I like that the MDs will randomly buy Pizza for everyone for lunch, teams are encouraged to spend time together out of work and there are regular Deltra funded social events.
I also like that the people really know their subject areas and host numerous events with specialists in the change and transformation space. The owners will often encourage everyone to feedback on how the business is run and welcome ideas for improvement or new initiatives to grow the business
What are your three favourite things to do when you’re not at work?
I love binge watching box sets on Netflix/Prime/iplayer – if I find a good show I will compulsively watch it! It could be dystopian – The Handmaids Tale, The 100, Colony; crime shows – Line of Duty is a favourite, dramas – Wanted is an Aussie show I watched back to back as well as The New Amsterdam and I absolutely love Call the Midwife and The Crown; comedy – I recently watched all episodes in Ricky Gervais’ Afterlife in one night and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is good. Have you watched The Goldbergs? – it’s tv gold!
I love going for long walks and exploring my local area - we moved to a more rural location about 18 months ago and it's great being able to walk in the countryside and finding a new pub or village coffee shop always makes a good pitstop! It’s a great way to spend time with friends or family and still get fresh air and some exercise. I don’t get to do it as often as I’d like to but visiting a spa is a real treat that will always get the thumbs up from me – most recently I went to Aqua Sana at Woburn Center Parcs with a friend for a day spa – absolute bliss!
What is your personal motto?
Nothing exciting on this one – I’d say its probably, “where there’s a will there’s a way” – don’t give up at the first hurdle
