Deltra Group take on the Three Peaks challenge for Whitechapel Mission

If there’s one thing we love at Deltra, it’s a challenge. So much so, that some brave members of our team have decided to take part in the gruelling three peaks challenge later this year, all in aid of our charity partner, Whitechapel Mission.

The challenge consists of climbing the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales all within a 24 hour period. That’s 23 miles of walking, a 3064-metre ascent and a 464-mile drive all across one day; so definitely not an easy feat!

As part of this year’s charity initiative, the team have decided to offer their support to Whitechapel Mission, a local homeless charity who give assistance of all kinds to as many as 300 homeless people each day. The team is committed to completing the challenge, while also raising money through donations to hit their £4,500 target, which will help the Mission to continue providing valuable support to the homeless people of London.

Whitechapel Mission director, Tony Miller, had this to say about the group embarking on the challenge:

"We are delighted to be partnered with Deltra Group with the common goal of making a difference for those sleeping rough in London. By taking part in the three peaks challenge, Deltra will help us to make sure people are provided with food, showers and clothes and give them an opportunity to get advice on housing, employment and addiction issues if necessary. Along with their volunteering efforts and donations of clothing and food, Deltra Group is providing a significant and meaningful amount in support of the Whitechapel Mission.”

Even though the challenge isn’t for another 6 months, this amazing feat requires plenty of training beforehand. In order to complete the challenge both safely and successfully, the group have already started putting their training plans into action. From cardio to weightlifting to just simply taking the stairs instead of the lift, each member of the group is working hard to get fit in time for the June deadline.

To boost motivation in the months leading up to the challenge, the team will also be taking part in group sessions at their local gym and will enlist the help of personal trainers to keep them on track. This just shows how determined the group is to completing the challenge to ensure all of their sponsorships go straight to their Whitechapel Mission fund.

This is just one of many fundraising activities the Deltra Group team have planned for this year. We have plenty of events in the pipeline, from bakes sales to pub quizzes, that we hope will help us to meet or even surpass our £4,500 target. The team are also planning on getting involved in some more of Whitechapel Mission’s volunteering opportunities this year, after thoroughly enjoying taking part in their Breakfast challenge last year.
