Data Engineering Manager
London 140K - 150K Permanent
A Commodities trading house in London are on the lookout for a new data engineering manager to join them during a growth stage. This is a hands-on leadership role combining platform ownership with team management and strategic delivery.

Key responsibilities:
- Define and deliver the data engineering strategy across ingestion, governance, and serving layers
- Own and evolve the Azure and Snowflake data platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and security
- Build and maintain high-throughput, event-driven data pipelines (real-time and batch)
- Establish standards across data models, pipelines, and APIs to improve consistency and reuse
- Embed strong data governance including quality controls, access management, and compliance
- Drive platform reliability, observability, and cost optimisation
- Lead and develop a global team of 10-12 data engineers
- Partner with trading, risk, finance, and technology teams to deliver business-critical data solutions
- 7–10 years’ experience in data engineering, including team leadership
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure and Snowflake
- Experience building scalable, production-grade data platforms
- Familiarity with modern tooling such as Terraform and orchestration frameworks
- Strong understanding of data governance and enabling AI/ML use cases
- Experience in commodity or energy trading is a plus
- 4-5 Days a week onsite at their London office
