John Lockett

John is a commercially astute IT and services leader with over 25 years of experience operating at Group CIO and SVP level across FTSE 100, private equity-backed, and global IT services organisations. Most recently, he spent nearly a decade as Group CIO at Serco plc. There, he led a major turnaround and cultural transformation of the global IT function, delivering £70m+ in cost savings, enabling £700m in COVID-related revenue through rapid cloud deployment, and recovering from two major cyber incidents.

John brings deep expertise in strategic IT transformation, shared services, cyber resilience, vendor negotiation, and large-scale programme delivery. His leadership has spanned global operations, including roles at Atos North America, Northgate Information Solutions, National Grid, and BG Group. He has successfully led SAP rollouts across 27 countries, managed multi-billion-pound infrastructure programmes, and advised on M&A integrations and carve-outs.

Now operating in a portfolio capacity, John supports clients as a critical friend and strategic advisor—particularly where transformation programmes have stalled, cyber risk is high, or cultural change is needed. He is passionate about helping organisations move faster, make better decisions, and deliver tangible outcomes.

John holds a PhD in Heat Transfer, an MBA from Aston University, and completed the Senior Executive Program at Stanford. He is available for short-term advisory engagements, programme assurance, and strategic consulting.
